Space travel: not only for astronauts

Cabin crew, prepare for take off…we´re going to space.  To us earth folk, space has always been something either only seen in the movies, on the news or an image in our most surreal-like dreams.  Space is mysterious, intriguing, and so far away that it is difficult to really fathom its existence. With today’s incredible advancements in technology, it is inevitable to say that one day we would make it to space.  Only 43 years later after the mythical Neal Armstrong landed on the moon in 1969, who would have guessed that today the curious average human being would be able to see the face of the earth?  The sleek, chic and luxury travel airline, Virgin has answered the long standing questions, doubts and dreams of the possibility of reserving a place to space. Virgin Galactic is the world´s first spaceline.

Virgin began to test the aircraft last year which will ultimately enable two pilots and six passengers to fly to the unknown depths of space.  The ticket, or the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, costs $200,000.  Already 450 people from around the world have purchased their tickets.  The spacecrafts are being consistently designed and researched in the Mojave desert in California.

The face of Virgin and president of the company, Richard Brandson says that

“The deal with Mojave Aerospace Ventures is just the start of what we believe will be a new era in the history of mankind, one day making the affordable exploration of space by human beings a real possibility.”

No launch date has been solidified yet, but eventually the spacecraft will take off from New York, orbit the earth and land in Tokyo within only two to three hours.  Holding the world in the palm of your hand is no longer a figure of your imagination, but rather a very if not extremely perceivable reality.
